FCC completes a three-day tree giveaway of 25,000 trees

25/8/2024

It’s a wrap!! Freetown City Council has completed a three-day tree giveaway of 25,000 trees. We started at Lumley Beach on Friday where we planted 600 trees. On Saturday and Sunday, we had teams that went door-to-door to distribute trees to households that had pre-registered for trees.

We also had teams at 10 locations across the city where hundreds of Freetonians turned up to collect trees of their choice. The atmosphere has been amazing! I am thrilled that with the planting of 25,000 trees in the city, we will continue our journey to make #FreetownTheTreeTown. The tree giveaway was dedicated to the memory of the late Sia Kamara who was the communications lead for the event.
